The Royal Commission into aboriginal deaths in Custody (1987-1991) is known by another name and that is Muirhead Commission. This was previously a royal commission being appointed by the Australian administration in October 1987 for the reason of studying and reporting on the basis of the underlying social, cultural and legal problems behind the deaths occurring in the custody of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals into the lights of the higher level of such deaths that happened in 1980’s (Machetti, 2005).
